January...

January came and went in a blink of an eye! THANK HEAVENS! Nothing crazy happened. Just everyday stuff. My new reality of 5 children hit me like a dump truck in January. A newborn baby and rambunctious kids in the middle of winter is not my idea of fun! Claire got pink eye and impetigo which was lovely and Eliza filled my entire makeup bag full of water. Eliza also had the pukes and Caleb had strep and Ivy had a fever of 103 for 3 days. We were at the doctor's office way too many times. The dark gray and gloomy days of January were no joke! BUT, through it all, I found my moments of joy and tried to stamp them in my brain to keep me going throughout the day. I don't think it gets harder than 5 children under the age of 7 in January. I am so glad that month is over with. I don't want to be a downer, but sometimes being honest about life is a breath of fresh air. January may have been the hardest month of my life. And for that, I am VERY lucky.

Liza loves to wear everyone's shoes. She recently learned how to smile for the camera...
And she smiles all day long...
She's my joy. Always happy, always smiling...
 Swaddled and perfect...
We made some cousin time and loved it...
Liza got super sick. It was sad, but I secretly loved it because she actually sat still for longer than 5 seconds and she didn't climb on any counters for 2 whole days!
Claire had a bad case of pink eye. And she's still so perfectly beautiful...
Liza wanted her babies to nap by Ivy...
After a bath is my favorite...
We found some time to go swimming...
 It was Liza's naptime...
Caleb is THE BEST BIG BROTHER to Liza! They share a room and laugh all night long. So dang cute...
Claire had a friend a while ago who was being really mean to her. She would make Claire be in the back of every line and she would run away from her. She asked me to write down the things I was trying to teach her so she wouldn't forget and so she could show her friend if she started being mean. She has saved this for over a year now. Thankfully, things are much better now and Claire has learned a lot this past year, but gosh this hurts as a parent. How cute is she?...
Liza thought it was a good idea to put on lipstick and then use my toothbrush...
If you're wondering, that's Impetigo. The NP told us it was a cold sore. We got the run-around for 5 days. It was a NIGHTMARE. Thankfully, I had some left-over antibiotic from Caleb's strep earlier that week and some leftover ointment from when he had Impetigo a few months ago. We have had every gross sickness at our house! I'm glad I had some medicine and now it has healed nicely. I will never see a nurse practitioner again. She was terrible. Why does stuff like this always happen on the weekends?
Sunday dinner at Grandma's and Ivy had the best seat in the house!...

Whew! That was a doozy. What did I learn this month? Sometimes you have to take life one hour at a time. Lucky for me, February was MUCH better.
