IT'S A GIRL!!!

We found out a few weeks ago that we are having a baby girl! To say I was completely shocked is an understatement. I wore all blue to the appointment and painted my nails blue too. Even when I was pregnant with Janie, I thought I had one boy and one girl left after her. I hoped that Eliza was a girl first so that Bud would want one more baby after her in hopes of a boy. So when Eliza was a girl, I just KNEW this one would be a boy. I even had a boy name picked out. Tate. I was already calling him Tater Tot in my mind. Hahahaha! It sounds so ridiculous!

When the ultrasound tech told us it was a girl, I made her check and then double check and then check 14 more times. Then, when I got home, I studied those pictures and searched for any signs of manhood! In my mind, all these years, I thought Caleb would get a little brother. I was sad that he wouldn't get to grow up with a brother. I really was pretty upset about it. AT FIRST.

NOW that I have had time to let it all soak in, I could not be more excited. The family dynamic of 4 girls and 1 boy vs 3 girls and 2 boys is a lot different! I don't want to sound like I'm ungrateful for another daughter because I am BEYOND grateful. It just throws you a major curve-ball when you imagine things a little bit differently. Growing up with 7 brothers had me ready for boys.

I have learned: Caleb and Mike have PLENTY of testosterone in this family to keep us in check. I wish I could re-live Caleb's life knowing he'd be my only son. 4 girls will give me a lifetime of best friends and fun outings. Caleb will learn how to be a really great husband. Just like Bud, his friends will be his brothers. Strong girls are powerful and my daughters will make the world a better place. God knows me better than I know myself.

I'm truly humbled and excited to hold that precious baby girl in my arms. October will be such a special month for me and our family.

Baseball and Soccer

We spent a lot of time at the baseball and soccer fields this spring. Caleb was born to throw, catch, kick and hit balls. It is so much fun to watch him play and love it! He is a hoot! As soon as he hits the ball and gets to first, he looks at us right away to make sure we saw how awesome he is. He really likes when we make a fuss over him. It's so cute. I have no problem yelling out to tell him how awesome he is!

Claire and Caleb were on the same soccer team this season. Their coach was pretty inexperienced and it put a small damper on their games, but that's okay. She was a volunteer. I'm not sure sports are her thing. Oh well! It was just great to see them running around and having fun! They just love being out there!

Here are some fun pictures from the season...

They pretty much have the cutest fans around...

 He gets "in the zone."

 See what I mean?...
 Representing...

I missed the slide into home, but he does it every single time...

Hard to get this kid to tuck his shirt in! He loved playing under the lights at the beginning of the season...
Treats are always a hit with Jack...

I feel bad, but I didn't get any other pictures of soccer this year. If you can imagine, there was a lot of running up and down the field and kicking the ball. Claire is super fast and when she breaks away from the group, watch out! She'll score every time! And Caleb is little and feisty. He works his bootie off out there. They both scored lots and they were BY FAR the cutest kids in the league!

I love seeing my kids be active and having fun and working hard. It's the best!

June

June is one of my favorite months. We are always up to something, so enjoy these photos with us!

These 2 little cousins get to play for 4 days while we tend Olivia. They are the sweetest!...

Eliza has been an absolute JOY lately! Every since she has started walking, she is so much happier and more fun. She is SASSY!...
 Always ready with a smile...
Janie just wants to go swimming...

 Cal too...
We had a sad little incident where Caleb told our next door neighbor that he was fat. So, he wrote him a little letter. "I am sorry I called you fat. I love you. Love, Caleb." It was a great teaching moment...
I get to love on these three all day long! And sometimes it's ALL. DAY. LOOOOOONG...
 Caleb fixing his tools!...
Claire is super proud of those teeth. When I see her teeth, I think of our money flying out the window...
We decorated people's driveways for YW one night. The kids LOVE coming with me to Young Women's!...
Janie drew a picture of a "diamond"...
 Caleb drew some dinosaurs...
And Claire outlined lots of stuff...
Janie turns into a new person when she gets "litsstick" on. She becomes quite proper and fancy. She loves all things girly!...
Mary's baby shower. I was so so so happy all night. I love celebrating her first baby on the way!...
4 of us are pregnant. 3 of them are girls!... (not sure on the 4th)
Dum Dums really do make my life easier...

Cafe Rio with the very best lunch dates...
Swimming LOTS AND LOTS this year! Liza's first time and she LOVED it!...
South Jordan Parade with Jay, Archer, Jack and Krew...
 And Lucy and Lainey too...

We live by the best of friends...
Janie at the South Jordan fair. She can't ever get enough of Frozen!...
They rode the free ride over and over. They didn't mind a bit missing out on the $5 rides. I hope they never know the difference. Haha!...
Caleb got in trouble for biting Janie one day, so he couldn't play with friends. He sat out at the end of our yard for almost 2 hours waiting for Claire to get home from school. It was the cutest...
And last, but not least, I walked outside and noticed Janie under the tramp pulling up her pants. I asked her what on earth she was doing! Then, she pointed to that little pile and joyfully said, "I POOPED!" Well, yes you did! I had to run and grab the camera. It was so funny, but not at the same time. She said later that she won't ever do that again. Thanks for that, Janie. Side note: 3 hours later my neighbor told me he saw her peeing on our front lawn. She'll be on a leash over the next little bit! Where do they get these ideas? I promise not from me! Oh the joys!

I'm just glad that summer has just begun!

First Piano Recital

I was so proud of her. It is not like Claire to get in front of a lot of people and perform or speak. She really hates it. I was worried she might start crying, but she didn't. She got right up and said, "Hi! My name is Claire Bennion and I will be playing Love One Another." After she got done, she said, I don't know why I said "Hi!" It was so cute. She played her little heart out. She played the entire song perfectly until the very last 4 notes and she couldn't quite get the ending right. So, she started over not once but twice. Hahahaha! It was so cute and I was so nervous for her! But she kept on trying until she got it right. I was so proud of her and even thinking about it now makes me a little emotional. She is such a beautiful little person. I love her so!

In front of her piano teacher, Deb Nehring's home...

 Ready to go!...
Here she is with her little friend, Lainey Smith. They carpool together to piano each week. Lainey recently got baptized and Claire got her a little gift and a card. She wrote the card all by herself and it said, "Lainey, I am glad you got baptized. You are the nicest friend on earth. I love you. Love, Claire." It was adorable. I love both of these girls!
Hopefully this is the first of many recitals and she becomes a pro! I'll invest in that.
